A beautiful and worthy event will honor one of the Silver Screen’s great dancers and it also supports the Dance Films Association.
It’s the DFA’s celebration of Marge Champion’s 93rd birthday with a Show Boat Cruise September 13, from 6-8:30.
The Birthday Boat departs from the piers at 23rd Street and the FDR Drive with Marco Polo Cruises.
Sounds so wonderful — they’ll screen film clips from Show Boat and other of Marge’s films including, we are hoping, Marge in Jack Cole “Swan Lake”-spoof ballet from Three for the Show.
Birthday cupcakes and other light refreshments in the form of an open bar will set the mood for dancing to tunes spun by DJ Alberto Denis.
