It’s always nice to have a special visitor from New York, in this case our good friend, the longtime editor of “Dance” Magazine, Wendy Perron.
Next Tuesday evening, Wendy will join forces with a stellar line up of dance thinkers and dance talkers: the great dancer/dance maker Simone Forti and choreographer/educator Victoria Marks.
It all happens at our city’s premiere book-talk series, ALOUD, at Central Library smack in the center of downtown Los Angeles, in a lovely auditorium/performance space. Program is of special meaning to ALOUD curator Louise Steinman, a former dancer and longtime F.O.W.
Perron will read from her new book, Through the Eyes of a Dancer; Forti, known internationally as a pioneer of postmodern dance, will perform one of her trademark “News Animations;” and Marks, who heads up UCLA’s Department of World Arts & Cultures/Dance, will perform a work-in-progress.
