“Hollywood Jazz – 1945-1972,” a jazz mural, image posted above, commissioned by the Los Angeles Jazz Society, deteriorated since its unveiling on October 27, 1990. But great news — it has just been beautifully restored by Capitol Records.

Artists featured in the mural include Chet Baker, Gerry Mulligan, Charlie Parker, Tito Puente, Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat “King” Cole, Shelly Manne, Dizzy Gillespie, Billie Holiday and Duke Ellington.

Acclaimed muralist Richard Wyatt and his artists who helped create the music-homage will be attending an event honoring the mural’s restoration. In celebration of May 5th Cinco de Mayo, guests will be treated to some great Latin jazz by Playboy Jazz Festival headliner, Louie Cruz Beltran.
