‘Tecnologia Filosofica,’ Italian contemp dancers at Theatre Raymond Kabbaz

Dance

I’ll be bobbing around the Caribbean, on TCM Classic Cruise, watching great movies with TCM’s Robert Osborne and Ben Mankiewicz.  But you may want to attend a cool dance performance in Los Angeles while I’m gone. It’s the U.S. premiere performance of one of Italy’s leading contemporary dance troupes, Tecnologia Filosofica.

Described as an entertaining and free-wheeling mix of dance, theater and music, five Italian dancers, a musician and a singer will portray the different dynamics and relationships that take place daily in a surreal apartment house. A mix of surrealism and neorealism, Canzoni Del Secondo Piano (Songs on the Second Floor) includes a succession of trios, duos and solos, enhanced by live music. This show was a highlight of the 2010 Avignon Festival in France.

Sounds interesting. Please go and let me know how it is. I must say, there’s something very Italian about that promotion photo…
