Roll with Parsons Dance Company, one night only, at the Valley Performing Arts Center, as the contemporary dance troupe — 13 movement frolickers, they’re nearly dance punsters translating tongue-tanglers into clever body licks — parades forth David Parsons’ uber-physical dance creations. It’s happening this Saturday night at the chic and lovely theater that sits at the southern border of the Cal State Northridge campus.
A fully produced presentation of Parsons’s clever solo, “Caught” (1982) merits the fun foray to the far Valley.
A critically acclaimed work for male soloist, “Caught” wittily transforms photography to the realm of live performance. It’s primarily a visual stunner: a high-contrast flashing light show with sound score by rock-artiste, Robert Fripp. Parsons himself designed the cool switcheroo lighting scheme.
But let’s cease the description … just go see it!
