West Side Story is such a great film! Although it’s enjoyable on TV or whatever, it cries to be viewed on a great big, wide movie screen, in a real movie theatre with the lights down low, thus sharing the whole experience with other people, whether one knows them or not.

Okay, folks, I have to admit it; Although I’ve seen a number of both older and newer films that I’ve liked well enough to see more than once, there’s one film that really tugs at my heartstrings, and I never get tired of seeing it over and over again. That film is….would you all believe….West Side Story. I’ve not only attended virtually every screening of West Side Story in my area, but have also made road trips to neighboring states to see screenings of this great, golden oldie but keeper of a classic film, as well. I’m keeping my eyes and ears pealed for another screening of West Side Story, either in my general area, or at least in an area close enough for me to make a road trip to.

West Side Story is my all time favorite movie, hands down, and I never get tired of seeing it, either on TV or on the great big, wide screen, in a real movie theatre, as it’s meant to be viewed. I always notice things about the movie that I didn’t notice during the previous viewing(s) of it. The MGM quote “Unlike other classics, West Side Story grows younger” is so true!!

I attended two screenings of West Side Story in less than a week; the 50th-year Anniversary TCM West Side Story Event here in Boston, and another screening of West Side Story five days later at Brookline’s Coolidge Corner Theatre, as the final part of their Big Screen Classic Series for this year, and loved every minute of both of them!!

saw it in 1961 as a kid. tickets were .35 at the time. went to the screening tonight and was as fresh as in 1961. It’s a classic that will always be around and loved by all as long as movies are around. Thanx Mr. Wise and Mr. Mirisch also Jerome Robbins for making this film happen.

West Side Story is my all time favorite movie. I was 12 when it came out and I fell instantly in love with Bernardo(George Chakiris). To this day I still love watching the movie and sing most of the songs. It will live on for another 50 years!

I hope to live long enough to see the 100th Anniversary of the greatest musical movie ever made (I’m in my 60’s). I can’t wait for next 11/9/11 for West Side Story.
