A bunch of New Year’s babies will start our Super-Dooper Double-Double-Digit calendar year (hey! remember 1919?) at the Hollywood Heritage Museum with a very cool program, the latest “Evening at the Barn.” It’s Cora Sue Collins Hollywood Reunion Party! hosted by Hollywood Heritage and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association Wednesday, January 8th.
On September 7th, 1979, child actor Cora Sue Collins held a party, a kind of reunion gathering for childhood acting friends from the 1930s and 1940s. She effectively created a ‘high school reunion’ for child stars of Hollywood’s Golden Age.
In attendance on that occasion were: Jackie Cooper, Donald O’Connor, Peggy Ryan, Jane Withers, Roddy McDowall, Peggy Ann Garner, Jane Powell, Gloria Jean, Ann Rutherford.
Ms. Collins had the foresight to videotape the evening. Recently re-edited from surviving materials, it has been enhanced with stills and film clips by editor Les Perkins.
In sharing this material, Cora Sue will appear in person. All grown-up babies are invited. BYOB: Bring your own blankie.
