Thank you, New York!

A big bravo to Manhattan, Mecca of the Arts, where I have been in residence since September — aka The Season!

I joined the furious tour of the performing arts, hitting the ground running, while on a Fellowship from The Center for Ballet and the Arts at NYU.

static-playbill-comForays to Lincoln Center, the Joyce Theater, Brooklyn Academy of Art, Baryshnikov Arts Center, and a culminating visit to the Rainbow Room, gave viewing pleasure. Hours passed at the great Performing Arts Library at Lincoln Center, New York Public LIbrary at 42nd Street, and Paley Center for Media bore fruit for my research.

My humble appreciation, especially, to fellow dance writers Deborah Jowitt, Wendy Perron, Lynn Garafola, Elizabeth Zimmer, Susan Reiter, Marina Harss, and Siobhan Burke for schmoozing and for sharing ‘plus-one’ seats. An honor to meet and greet Joan Acocella, Alastair Macaulay, Elizabeth Kendall, Brian Seibert, Amanda Vaill, Julie Malnig and more while in New York.

One lovely playbill left out of the cluster above: “Fiddler on the Roof” at the Broadway Theatre, featuring updates of Jerome Robbin’s original choreography by Hofesh Shechter. Hofesh was born to do that gig. Beautiful!
