Tony Curtis, forever young 1

Film

About an hour after this photo was taken in 2004, up pulled a huge stretch limousine and out popped the devilish Tony Curtis, forever young. A sidewalk full of admirers and fans immediately surrounded him. It was fun watching Curtis work the crowd. Edging in, I asked for his autograph. Only … I don’ t collect autographs. It just seemed like the right thing to do. I told him it was for my mother. So he signed with a flourish: “Dear Mom … Love, Tony Curtis.

Curtis was a real movie star, a huge one, who labored, lived, and loved in old Hollywood. Adieu!

Livng in San Diego we go to the Hotel Del Coronado every holiday season to see the annual Christmas tree, hear the Victorian dressed foursome singing carols, and, of course, reminisce about the movie “Some Like it Hot” The hotel was supposed to be in Florida for the movie, but we here in San Diego know better, and it’s a real treat to see the beach and the old elevator (that still works perfectly) This was truly one of Tony’s best movies ever and it’s neat to have this 1888 landmark so nearby.
